Happy Halloween! Since this is the creepiest day of the year, we thought it was fitting to talk about some weird scholarships out there. So what constitutes weird? A weird scholarship would be for an unusual accomplishment, category, area of interest, or contest. For example, Clowns of America offers a scholarship for anyone who is aspiring to be a clown. Or, if the products you are bringing to market are dead people, then the American Board of Funeral Service Education has a scholarship program for you. Ready for the zombie apocalypse? If so, then you may be able to win some college money from the Zombie Apocalypse Scholarship. Pretty weird right??
Some other not so creepy but weird scholarships are the Jif Most Creative Sandwich Contest, or the Duck Brand Wear Duck Tape to Prom Contest. If you live in Phoenix, AZ, and you are tall, then the Central Arizona Tall Society might have a scholarship for you. Are you good at duck calling? Then you can apply to the Chick and Sophie Major Memorial Duck Calling contest. And finally one more worth mentioning is the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo Scholarships for all you cowboys/girls out there.
Have you got an idea for a weird scholarship or have you entered one? We'd love to hear about it! tell us about it in our "comments" section and you might just see a new "weird" scholarship next time.
Fund for Thought doesn't offer creepy or weird scholarships, but our most unusual or uncommon scholarship is the Medieval and Renaissance Studies Scholarship for $2,000. Individuals who aspire to work performing re-enactments of this period in history are our applicants in this category!
