This is great advice. In order to make your scholarship essay sound genuine-it must BE genuine. Using personal experience to describe why you have a motivation or passion for something helps the reader to understand and empathize with your story. You have to ask yourself when writing, how does this make sense to others? Translating your experiences into your essay will better communicate your story, and set the theme and tone for your work.
